Skagway Brewing Company, Inc. owns 3 establishments in Skagway:

  • The Skagway Brewing Co. (Pub fare)
  • Mexi Co. (Taqueria style Mexican fare)
  • The Smokehouse (Barbecue)

Employment opportunities may be for 1 or all 3 establishments. Our tourism season starts the last week of April and ends the first week of October. All positions will be expected to have the State of Alaska food handler’s permit. All Front of House employees will be expected to have Alcohol Server Certification compliant with the State of Alaska. 

HOST: $14/hour + tips - Skagway Brew Co.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meet, greet & seat guests in a timely manner
  • Maintain a welcoming presence along with a friendly and courteous attitude….smile!
  • Provide information to guests upon request
  • Alert server to new tables
  • In-depth knowledge of bar and restaurant menus
  • In-depth knowledge of brewing process and tasting notes of our ales
  • Bus/wipe tables when needed
  • Server assistance (run credit cards, food & drink) when necessary
  • Direct customers to merchandise and special promotions in gift shop
  • Ensure host stations are clean and adequately stocked before and end of shift
  • Clean menus daily
  • Maintain our high standards of cleanliness and organization throughout restaurant
  • Accurately relay wait times and inform of waiting options
  • Efficient time management

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • In-depth knowledge of bar and restaurant menus
  • Greet guests
  • Keep guests comfortable/needs met at all times
  • Provide efficient service
  • Guide gusts through menus, using suggestive selling to boost sales
  • Direct customers to merchandise and special promotions in gift shop
  • Run checkout report at end of shift, following all cash control procedures
  • Ensure server stations are adequately stocked before, during, end of shift
  • Maintain our high standards of cleanliness and organization throughout restaurant

  • Refill cleaning agents as needed
  • Follow dishpit/disposal rules
  • Properly organize and store kitchen dishes in correct locations
  • Follow written/verbal instructions
  • Perform opening/closing procedures as assigned

  • Assist with portion prep work for other shifts when needed

  • adherence, cooking methods, plate presentation, quality, service and production time adherence.
  • Evaluate finished products for appearance, taste, smell and texture according to internal specifications
  • Monitor product freshness and rotate out old product based on a schedule created by the restaurant
  • Performs shift opening and closing duties as assigned, including cleaning cutting boards, equipment and floors
